Scout was enaged to launch The New Modernist from February through to end April 2016. The New Modernist is a boutique store focusing on restored, collectible furniture pieces that showcase some of the best moments of Modernism..
The store is the brainchild of Emma De Crespigny, formerly of C20 Galerie. De Crespigny lovingly curates every piece for her new Bo-Kaap shopping destination. No mere vintage shop, The New Modernist presents items in a gallery-style setting where classic designs are recreated and brought into the present with contemporary fabrics and upholstery.
Bringing a New York style to the décor scene, De Crespigny holds a Masters Degree in History of Decorative Art and Design from Parsons. While not only curating pieces, Emma also creates unique lighting and accessories that have the same retro but modern feel. The New Modernist will soon be launching an e-commerce store where the collections can be bought.
