Scout is proud to announce that Saint-Gobain, the founder of the Africa Architecture Awards, has appointed the agency to manage the PR and Facebook content creation for the inaugural awards. The Africa Architecture Awards is the first-ever Pan-African awards initiative.

The Africa Architecture Awards programme was launched earlier in 2017 with the awards ceremony set to take place on 28 September 2017. A $10 000 grand prize will be given to the overall winner.

Entries close on 30 June 2017 and are open to all projects pertaining to Africa. There are four entry categories: Built (representing the widest range of architectural projects); Speculative (promoting imaginative and hopefully impactful responses to African contexts); Emerging Voices (recognising the role and importance of education); and Critical Dialogue (stressing the importance of critical writing and discussion about architecture as an important part of the field of architecture itself).

In addition, there are two Special Awards: a Lifetime Achiever’s Award, given at the discretion of the Master Jury in any given award cycle; and the People’s Choice Award, which is decided by public vote.

The objectives of the Africa Architecture Awards are manifold, and include the promotion of design excellence within numerous built environment disciplines; the creation of awareness surrounding the importance of these disciplines; the initiation of conversations and connections for prospective collaboration between architects around Africa; and the creation of a platform for emerging talents and voices.
