For the third consecutive year, the Craft + Design Institute (CDI) has appointed Scout PR & Social Media to manage social media content and PR for the V&A Watershed Design Lab at the V&A Waterfront. This living retail ‘laboratory’ is a collaboration between the CDI and V&A Watershed and receives additional support from Business and Arts South Africa (BASA).

The current V&A Watershed Design Lab cohort includes five local designers: Tiger Lily Tots, Thabo Makhetha, Lindo Leather, Meraki Accessories and Shumba Bags and Accessories. Selected for their passion and entrepreneurial drive, these creatives will benefit from mentorship and retail exposure to grow their businesses.

The V&A Watershed Design Lab is open to the public during regular shopping hours and is stocked with a diverse range of designs, from baby toys to handbags to jewellery to fashion. The current cohort will have one year to benefit from the programme.

‘It’s a privilege to work alongside the CDI once again, helping to elevate rising South African designers and their creations,’ says Lauren Shantall, Director of Scout. ‘This year’s cohort has so much to offer consumers, with each creative bringing their vision and craft to the table. Supporting their journey is both inspiring and rewarding, as it highlights the depth and diversity of local design.’
