Scout is humbled to announce that the company will be working with the Lalela Project by providing PR services aimed at raising the local profile of the NPO and securing more corporate social investment. These services will be provided at a 50% discounted “low bono” rate in support of the organisation.

Lalela Project is focused on providing at-risk youth with the opportunity to grow and explore their own creativity as well as their entrepreneurial spirit. The project provides after school education for children as young as 6 years old. Through its I AM (Ideas, Art and Music) curriculum, Lalela helps youth learn how to think creatively while enhancing their problem-solving skills.

In order to boost awareness, as well as the self-confidence of the participants, the Lalela Scarf project turns the young artists’ works of art into wearable fashion pieces. These uniquely colourful scarves showcase the creative potential of the children, while also raising funds for the organisation.

Though art is often an overlooked subject, it has been shown that children who engage with the arts are more likely to continue their education and succeed. An example is the fact that in Hout Bay an impressive 95% of Lalela seniors graduated in 2015, a marked improvement on the 64% rate in 2014.
